A Measure of Time

Since 1919, the Tuscarawas County YMCA has been making a difference in the lives of young people and families in our community.

Thousands of people have benefited and been positively affected by the programs, activities, and services the Y has offered. But longevity is not the only significant factor in determining an organization’s value to the community it serves. It must be accessible to everyone in the community so that all can benefit from the development of good character. It must contribute to the overall spiritual and moral quality of the community and help develop a sense of responsibility for the betterment of the community. It must help develop community volunteer leadership for both youth and adults to be ready to meet the responsibilities for our community, our country and our world. The YMCA movement has been committed to this very mission since our formation over 150 years ago.

But the concern is, will the YMCA be able to meet those needs in future generations?

Passing on a Tradition

The YMCA Heritage Club was established as a means of helping preserve the YMCA for future generations. The Heritage Club is made up of individuals in our community who believe in the YMCA and have made a commitment to ensure that
the YMCA tradition continues into the future.

The Gift for the Future

Because so many of us have benefited by the generosity and foresight of our predecessors by having a YMCA in our community, we know the benefit that this organization can provide to youth and families. But the concern is, will the YMCA be able to meet those needs in future generations? It can, but only with the support of those who know that the YMCA is an important part of our community.

The time is now to commit to the long-term financial security of the YMCA and for the thousands of young people who will benefit from YMCA programs and services in the future.
