Welcome to Tuscarawas County YMCA Gymnastics
Below is a description of all our clases and programs. For pricing, session dates and class days/times please click the Program Guide button to the right.

Gymnastics Progressive Levels

Ages 5 and up – beginner level gymnastics on all equipment. Form and fundamentals are strongly reinforced. Gymnasts will learn basic skills on all events with drills and stations to teach body shape and awareness.

Ages 5 and up- beginner-intermediate skills for the gymnast who has mastered Rollers. Strong emphasis on technique and form. Builds on the progressions of beginner levels. New skills are introduced on each event.

Intermediate level class for gymnasts who enjoy progressive levels. Builds on Swingers level with a strong focus on tumbling and events. Must have completed Swinger level skills to register.

Ages 6 and up - Intermediate to advanced skills to gain readiness for team. This level will work on level 3 team skills. The focus is on strong gymnastics and building independent work ethic to ready gymnasts for team.


Tumbling Level 1
Basic tumbling for beginners. Introduces basic body shapes, fundamentals of tumbling, and progressions for confidence and strength using drills and stations.

Tumbling Level 2
Intermediate tumbling skills introduced leading to back handsprings. This level will teach good foundations and techniques to progress to power tumbling. Some drills and stations are used to achieve solid form.

Tumbling Level 3
Advanced tumbling for the power tumbler. This class teaches form, good technique, and stresses safety. Tucks, layouts, fulls, are stressed in this level. Tumble trak and stations are an important part of this class.

Preschool Levels

Preschool Playtime (18 months-4 years)
Just like it sounds. A 45 minute open gym time for you to spend playing indoors in our gymnastics gym. No instruction, just free play for you and your kiddos. Stations and obstacle courses are set up each week to utilize and create imaginative worlds.

Pajama Gym ( ages 2-4)
A fun-filled hour of activity for busy little bodies. Parents get to play with their little tumblers while being led in parachute fun, obstacle courses, and activities. Every week is a new and exciting theme. The evening ends with story time and a snack before “bedtime".

KIndergym (ages 2-4)
Enjoy a 45 minute instructor lead gymnastics class with your child. Locomotive skills, listening skills, interaction with other children, the perfect class to help ready your child for preschool. Parent participation is a must. Obstacle course fun and introduction to the world of gymnastics.

Let’s Get Ready to Tumble (3 year olds)
Your child’s first venture into “big kid” classes without mommy or daddy. A half hour of obstacle course fun to teach gymnastics readiness. Basic obstacle course work and age appropriate activities are taught.

Tumbletots (ages 4-5)
Your little gymnast will learn beginner level gymnastics, how to follow directions, and work independently. We encourage your little one to work hard and have a winning attitude. Gymnastics takes perseverance and practice. We teach locomotive skills, body shapes, and basic skills on all equipment. Stations are introduced to work fundamentals and teach good form and technique. A fun filled class for young beginners

Mini Elite
For the little gymnast who has mastered the beginner levels of Tumbletots and is ready to work at stations and drill independently. Higher level skills are introduced with emphasis on form and technique. Must have instructor approval to register for this class.

Gymnastics Team

2017-18 Season
May 15,17,19
5:00-7:30 PM
Open to gymnasts who have completed Flippers Level or comparable skills.

A great opportunity for gymnasts who are ages 8 to 18, have previous gymnastics experience, and have the competitive spirit.

Competitive Season
September through May. Practices are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for two and a half hours (4:30-7:00 PM)

6 - 8 meets a year usually on Saturdays

First meet is held in October

2 - 3 home meets per season and away meets are usually within75 miles.

Parents are responsible to help with fundraising, concession stands, meet setup, tear down, and providing food for the concession stand operation.

What is the cost?

Team members must have a YMCA Family or Youth Membership

A monthly team fee of $80 is to be paid June - March (10 months) by the 10th of the month. This rate includes April; May is at no cost. (30 hours of gymnastics a month). If gymnast is part of a Y Family Membership the fee is reduce to $65 per month.

Judges Fees: approx. $150*
Team Leotard Cost: approx. $100*
Team Warm-up: $50
Dowel grips; $25-$50
*Fundraisers offered to help with fees

Gymnasts may also purchase warm up suits, practice leos and other items with varying prices.
